Where we started The project began with the acquisition of a 1996 Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe, selected as the foundation for what would become Autometrics 4.0. The owner, a long-time Autometrics customer, had previously owned both a 1998 Porsche 911 Carrera S (993) and a 2007 Porsche 911 GT3 (997). While each car offered a distinctly different driving experience, the project objective became clear: retain the timeless design and analog character of the 993 while incorporating performance and chassis improvements inspired by the 997 GT3. The donor vehicle was carefully documented and evaluated before any work began. Every system was inspected, photographed, and recorded, establishing a baseline for the build and the first milestone in the Autometrics 4.0 project.

The Foundation (993) Every exceptional Porsche begins with the same principle: nothing is overlooked. Before a single performance component was installed, the Autometrics 4.0 underwent a complete disassembly. The engine, transmission, suspension, braking system, and interior were removed so every major system could be inspected, evaluated, cleaned, and rebuilt. This wasn't a repair.   It was a reset. Every component was examined before a single upgrade was selected. Wear items were replaced, critical systems were refreshed, and the chassis was prepared to serve as the foundation for what would become the Autometrics 4.0. The goal was never to build the fastest 993. The goal was to build one of the finest.

POWERTRAIN The Heart of the Build Everything revolves around the engine. At the center of the Autometrics 4.0 is a hand-built air-cooled flat-six designed to deliver immediate throttle response, exceptional drivability, and the unmistakable character only an air-cooled Porsche can provide. Built around a GT3 billet crankshaft with custom Mahle pistons, Carrillo connecting rods, Rothsport Nikasil cylinders, DC80 camshafts, Kinsler individual throttle bodies, Motec engine management, and a Cargraphic exhaust system, this is far more than an engine rebuild. It is a complete reinterpretation of Porsche's legendary flat-six.

DRIVETRAIN Built to Match the Engine Power means little without confidence. The G50 transmission was completely rebuilt with upgraded internals designed to complement the characteristics of the new powerplant. An Albins ring and pinion, Guard limited-slip differential components, upgraded synchronizers, RS-style lightweight clutch, and AASCO flywheel provide precise engagement while preserving the mechanical feel that defines the 993 driving experience. Nothing was added simply because it was expensive. Everything was selected because it made the car better.
